The Enrich cobranded card has returned. Ever since the CIMB Enrich cobranded card was terminated a few years ago, there has been no cobranded card from Malaysia Airlines, the largest airline in Malaysia. This time the cobranded card is back in the market via Ambank. Ambank has launched two Enrich cobranded cards, the affluent Ambank Enrich Visa Infinite credit card and the mass-market Ambank Enrich Visa Platinum credit card.
What the new cards offer:
The main selling points of the Ambank Enrich Visa Infinite credit card are the earning of Enrich points, unlimited access to Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge, 10% off Malaysia Airlines flight tickets all year long, and fast track to Enrich Elite status with a 30% reduction in Enrich Elite Points requirement. Ambank Enrich Visa Platinum cardholders also enjoy similar benefits, with a slightly different rate of Enrich points conversion, four accesses to Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge, 10% off Malaysia Airlines flight tickets all year long, and fast track to Enrich Elite status with a 30% reduction in Enrich Elite Points requirement. Both cardholders also enjoy travel insurance coverage of RM2,000,000 and RM500,000, respectively.
How does earning Enrich points from this card compare to other cards in the market?
The Ambank Enrich Visa Infinite card earns 1 Enrich Mile point for every RM1 spent overseas, while every RM3 spent locally earns 1 Enrich Mile point. The overseas conversion rate is very competitive, given the affordability of the card. Only the CIMB Travel World Elite credit card and UOB PRVI Miles Elite credit card earn more miles when spending overseas (1.25 and 1.11 miles per Ringgit, respectively). There are cards like the RHB Premier Visa Infinite credit card (1.33 miles per Ringgit) that may earn more on overseas spending, but the cardholder needs to be an RHB premier customer to qualify to apply for the card.
This makes the Ambank Enrich Visa Infinite extremely competitive, as it also offers 0.33 miles per Ringgit spent locally, which is better than the CIMB Travel World Elite and CIMB Travel World credit cards (both earn 0.25 miles per Ringgit on local spending). The 0.33 miles per Ringgit spent locally is also the highest rate compared to other Ambank credit cards.
Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge:
Another highlight of the new Ambank and Enrich cobranded credit card is that the Ambank Enrich Visa Infinite cardholders receive complimentary unlimited access to Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge, not just for the primary cardholder but also for one guest. Ambank Enrich Visa Platinum cardholders also enjoy four complimentary accesses to the Golden Lounge, but this benefit applies only to the principal cardholder.
For your information, currently, only Business and Business Suite class passengers are allowed to enter the Golden Lounge, while economy class passengers must purchase a pass either walk-in or online. The walk-in rate for one adult is RM320 for the Golden Lounge Satellite and Regional, and RM180 for the Golden Lounge Domestic. Thus, there you go, from our opinion the cards offering unlimited access for you and your guest is a key selling point for the credit cards.
Malaysia Airlines Enrich Tiers:
Besides Enrich Miles Points, the Malaysia Airlines Enrich program has a separate point system called Enrich Elite Points to keep track of loyalty status. There are four different tiers in Enrich Elite: Blue, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. To reach the highest tier of Enrich Platinum (OneWorld Emerald), you are required to maintain 100 Elite Points. With the Ambank Enrich Visa Infinite credit card, you save 30% of the points required to maintain or upgrade to the next tier of your Enrich status. Why is this important? You earn Enrich points faster if you’re Enrich Platinum. What’s more exciting is that Ambank Enrich Visa Platinum cardholders also enjoy the same 30% reduction in Elite Points needed for Elite status.
10% Off on Malaysia Airlines Flight Tickets All Year Long:
Besides earning Enrich miles from overseas spending, you also earn 1 Enrich mile per Ringgit spent on airline-related spending, including with Malaysia Airlines. Additionally, when you use your Ambank Enrich Visa Infinite or Platinum credit card, you get a 10% discount on flight tickets anytime throughout the year. This is a unique benefit not offered by other credit cards in the market for savings on Malaysia Airlines tickets.
Summary:
Overall, Ambank and Enrich have developed excellent cobranded credit cards. Branded under Visa Infinite and Visa Platinum, these cards cater to customers with different income and spending levels. With a competitive Enrich miles conversion rate and a 10% discount on Malaysia Airlines flight tickets, these cards are among the best for anyone aiming to collect Enrich Miles and spend with Malaysia Airlines. Moreover, Ambank is currently running a campaign that allows you to earn 10,000 miles, which is sufficient for a one-way economy class trip to anywhere in ASEAN. Access to the Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge is also a great perk for frequent economy class travelers, providing an opportunity to enjoy some of the benefits typically reserved for Business and Business Suite passengers.
